WELCOME to SEEKING SHALOM

WE WILL WALK THE PATH TOWARDS WHERE YOU WANT TO BE

You Are Not Alone

We are here to help you.

whatever may be bringing you to be looking for help, such as:

  • Anger
  • Anxiety or Worry
  • Depression or Sadness
  • Stress
  • Communication
  • Conflicts & Disagreement
  • Relationship Issues
  • Sexual Problems
  • Intimate Partner Violence
  • Parenting
  • Life Transitions
  • Life Balance
  • Isolation
  • Grief and Loss

You do not have to face these things alone. Counseling can provide you with a guide who will help you as you face what is causing you to feel not at peace or not whole. If you think one of these applies to you, please follow the link for it and see examples of how this might feel. Then, know that things can be different and reach out for some help.

Whatever you are facing – you are not alone. If you are a person of faith, know that God is still with you and desires for you to find shalom. A counselor can help you on your journey towards wholeness and peace. Your first step is to make an initial appointment by calling (212)655-9605 or by making an appointment under the New Client tab. We would be honored to be able to walk this journey with you.

Who We Are

Seeking Shalom is here to help you bring back peace and wholeness in your life and relationships. If stress, feelings of hopelessness and prolonged sadness, difficulties in your relationships or other issues are infringing on your daily life, we at Seeking Shalom can help you deal with these.

We have a variety of people who can listen to you and help guide you on your journey. The practice was formed by the Rev. Christopher L. Smith who has decades of experience as a licensed mental health counselor and marriage and family therapist in New York City and Indiana. He and his staff intentionally integrate your spirituality into the therapeutic process that helps you find the peace and wholeness that you seek. We work with individuals, families and various other groups of people from all lifestyles and religious beliefs. Our different approaches will provide you with a look at what may be going on in your life and will help you address the issues appropriately.

The concerns that bring you to come and see us (you might want to look at the Topic pages above) can arise from a variety of things. We believe that each person has the right to feel whole about their life and be at peace with what is going on in it. This same idea is held by many world religions (including those who identify as Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu or many others) as well as by people whose spirituality is not based in a particular religious tradition or who are not even focused on spiritual questions. Regardless, as we work from where you are at, with counseling and therapy, you can move towards experiencing the shalom that results from restoring your relationship with yourself, the people in your life and your spiritual journey. You will no longer have to face difficulties and unhappiness alone. Finally reach your destination; the peaceful place you desire.

Whether you are concerned for yourself or for someone else, know that wholeness and peace is possible in every person’s life as long as you are willing to seek it. For some, this journey will take time facing the challenges along the way. Sometimes, all you need is a little guidance from someone who knows how to effectively resolve life’s trialing conflicts.

Together, we will walk the journey to get you to where you want to be. Please explore the site to learn more about Seeking Shalom and the services we offer.
